What is it?

SmellsAway is an activated carbon fibre pad, approximately 3mm thick, with a self-adhesive backing on one side, allowing it to be easily stuck to the underside of any bin lid. See the SmellsAway Datasheet for further technical information.

What does it do?

This highly porous material literally sucks the smells from the air and captures them in its micropore surface, leaving the bin and surrounding area completely odour free.

Activated carbon is the most adsorptive substance known and is proven in its ability to filter odours. It is able to do this because of its huge surface area - just one gram has a higher surface area than that of four regular sized tennis courts.

SmellsAway carbon pads will leave all bins, including household, wheelie and food recycling bins and commercial bins used by restaurants and other businesses, odour free, even in hot weather.

How is it used?

Simply peel off the backing and press the adhesive side firmly against the inside of the bin - generally under the lid. The pad will keep the bin odour free for up to four weeks and can then be reactivated up to three times to maximise the life of the product. Reactivation is quick and easy - just expose the pad to sunlight for a couple of hours to restore the pad’s adsorptive properties. To ensure maximum effectiveness, we recommend the pad be replaced after the third reactivation. Once the pad is finished with it can be safely disposed of with normal waste - because it is made from 95% carbon based material the pad is inert and will not have any adverse effect on the environment - and replaced.
